For the last 15 years, the Alliance of Solwara Warriors (ASW) and West Coast Development Foundation (WCDF) have been campaigning against the first International Seabed Mining in the Bismarck and Solomon Sea in Papua New Guinea.

The campaign continues, following the New Ireland Provincial Government’s public announcement of support for the project under the leadership of Acting Governor Walter Schnaubelt. ASW and WCDF are ramping up their campaign, defending the ocean as last frontier to climate change in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.

In this commentary, Jonathan Mesulam, co-founder of ASW calls for community wishes across the Bismarck and Solomon Seas to be respected and for there to be NO SEABED MINING.
